Sixty Days to Cast Off
Preparing to sail away on any holiday is a delightful prelude of anticipation over the places I am soon to visit, the people I am yet to meet and lazy days of sun and sea.
However if, and when you decide to go on a full world circumnavigation please be warned that the delight starts to wear thinner the closer you get to sailing.
Firstly your list of things to do increases day by day as you start to
consider the finer details of leaving your home for four months in the winter.
Secondly you start to panick as you realise you cannot squeeze into the extensive cruise wardrobe you bought in the summer sales.
Thirdly your three large suitcases will not accommodate the ever growing collection of goods and chattels you consider essential for the voyage.
Finally, your pre cruise budget is spiralling out of control and is starting to resemble the national debt of a small third world country.
Did we really need to book a helicopter ride over Hawaii and an overland trek to Petra?
Moral of the moment... You can't paint the world red without dripping a bit of paint.
