hello there everyone.
well i hear you guys have been getting some sunshine while it is snowing over here!!!pretty cold especially in the campervan but survived and the sun is shining today in Kikoura. Jenni is off to watch some whales but the seas are quite rough so i have given it a miss - no fun out there with sea sickness!!!
We are now on the way back up to the north island and get the ferry over on wenesday. we have both loved the south island especially the countryside and beauty of the place. the people are very friendly as well and there is alot to do. we had a great weekend with geoff and julie beer (pauls mum and dad) in mossburn and we both got to fire a gun. it was awesome! we were botha bit nervous too begin with but it was good fun. jenni had the best aim though with the sniper rifel although she didnt try the shotgun. that was great fun although all i shot at was a piece of wood so i imagine sooting a duck will be alot different! i hear the photos didnt work so we will try and sort that out soon. we also went jet boating which was good fun until i managed to get ice cold water into both wellies! there was a time when i thought it wasnt such a good idea - when we went under a low bridge and we had to duck. i honestly think we could have touched it with my nose!!! but thanks to the beers for such a wonderful weekend. i hope they have as much fun next month in scotland.
after that we headed to invercargil and then followed the east coast back up towards the north island. we visitied dunedin - the speights brewerey ,the steepest street in the worls - then onto christchurch. this is a lovely city and we enjoyed it even though we went to see sex in the city at the movies , obviously not my choice honest!!!!!!
then the snow came!!! the countryside was beautiful covered in this white layer and it was good fun - for a bit. the temperature changes dramaticaly though and from the sun being out to the snow coming it dropped about 16 degrees. we went up to hanmer springs another beautiful place, and it was great waliking about all wrapped up having a beer in front of a nice warm fire.
that was two days ago and we are now back in the sunshine and the snow is gone. another thing about the snow was the driving! pretty trecharous on some of the roads but we both managed ok. jenni is also a great navigator. she has the map and every time she says right i turn left and we always end up at our destination - its uncanny. i think it has something to do with her holding the map upside down myself!!! i have had a small incident however when a small tree jumped out at the back of me, oopps!!!! no seroius damage done thought , just a bit too the pride!!
well next time we write will prob be from fiji. we should be there this time next week all going well
i hope you are all well
drop us a line if you have anynews or just to say hi
cheers gillon and jenni
