Hello there everyone.
We are now in not-as-warm-as-oz Auckland, New Zealand.
We arrived last night and have just spent today exploring most of the city. its certainly not as warm as oz, a mere 12 degrees today, and the wardrobe is certainly going to have to have a rethink. i suppose its a bit like going to bermuda for a summer holiday and coming back to glasgow with your flip flops, speedo trunks on and a light t-shirt and wondering why your bloody freezing - its not going to happen is it. well that was a quick lesson i learned today as i left our hostle with the same attire i have been dressed in for the last 6 months in OZ. straight back in after about 0.00003 seconds for a rethink to re-appear with jeans a wooly hat and gloves and thick jumper. its nice though the change in temperature not haveing to constantly wipe the sweat from your brow or look for a shop with air-conditioning to hide for a while. It should also cut down on the sniff testing of the clothes(less heat less sweating!)- not so bad if its a t-shirt or shorts but unhealthy if you have forgotton what underwear is clean!!!!
Auckland itself is a nice place with a harbour and plenty of sights and museums to keep us busy for a few days before we take off in a campervan to go exploring the north then south islands.
It was a bit sad leaving OZ and wondering if either of us will ever be back at any stage. who knows!
Anyway this was just a quick blog before we go and purchase some instant noodles to cook at the hostel then maybe treat oursleves to a beer at the -5 degree bar (it is really a bar made of ice).
Cheers for now
