So im currently in Brisbane and i will fill you in with my adventures of the past week in sydney and the road trip up the coast!
Sydney
The first to days we were pretty jetlagged and the weather was overcast and cold and eneded up going to bed at like 7pm and waking up each day at 6 am! then once we were finally in the swing of things we started to see the city! first we walked around the opera house and the harbor, which was beautiful because you got an awesome view of the harbor bridge. later that afternoon we hopped on a ferry and went to manly beach where we jsut walked around and then had some dinner at this really great restaurant on the dock where the ferry picks you up. the prices of food at restaurants will knock you over when you first read them like for example a caeser salad is 22 dollars! the next day we decided to check out the most popular beach called bondi beach. this beach was amazing there are people everywhere and people surfing everywhere you look. there is a small market along the main road which had some great things that i wanted to buy but i decided it wasn't a good idea to be buying things then lugging them around with me for a year. there is also a 5 km train along the coast that is walls of rocks that you can climb and everyonce in a while you will come across a small beach and each one is more beautiful then the next, made it hard to pick. the next day we made a trip to the royal botanical gardens where there are eels in their ponds and huge bats in their trees. We decided to finally go out to the bar that night and the hostel took us a bar called scubar where they had crab races and you could bet on one for $1 and win a free scuba trip! so i bet and mine went in circles so i didn;t win anything... we also went tot he aquarium where we saw sharks and crazy fish and spent the rest of the day wakling along the harbour! our final night we met two other canadians (which were the first canadians we met so far) and that was a good night because most of our friends we made at the hostel went out so we got one last good night and goodbye kind of thing. and that is our experience in sydney!
road trip!
we picked up our motor home in sydney and cassidy was to scraed to drive it was the drivers side is on the right and you drive on the left hand side of the road. so i had to step up and drive this massive beast and to make things worse withen the first 5 mins we were in down town sydney with crazy cab drivers people wlaking everywhere and busses everywhere. I ended up hitting a bus with my left had mirror but no damage was done and i almost peed out of fear haha. we finally got out of the city in one piece and drove the pacific coast highway up to port Macquarie and got a camp site for the night. by the time wqe got there it was dark and there wasnt to much to see so we went to the beach and saw the cool things the tide left on the beach like jelly fish and what not then just called it a night. in the moring we went to a koala hospital were we got to see about 10 koalas that were recovering from burns or dog bites or getting hit by cars. we also got to meet the oldest koala in the world! we got bakc on the road after that and drove up to byron bay that is a small surf town that reminded me alot of port dover! we found another camp site ( this one with power!) and went to the beach and made some dinner and had some drinks to celebrate driving all this way without crashing haha the next day we got up decided to drive thru surfers paradise to get to brisbane and i can;t wait to go back it looked amazing.
Now we are currently at our firend amys house she was generous enough to let us stay for a few nights and yeaterday we say the city center of brisbane and right in the middle is a man made beach! it was so cool i will put up picks soon. we went tot he brisbane museum and the science center and then tomorrow we are going to hop on a train and go back to surfers to stay with our friend alex for a few days till we find an appartment and look for a job!
fill you in later....

Frannie Hey Gillian. Nice to see the post. I laughed at the comment about the price of food. Just try to keep in mind that the price does include tax and essentially a tip, as its not normal to tip there. I found it hard to pass up tipping when I got truly good service, but the looks I got when I did tip sure made me understand that its out of the norm. Enjoy Brisbane! Good luck with the job search! Cheers.
