We have just seen everything that I love about Australia. In a 50km radius this weekend we saw desert, wild flowers in the Lesueur National Park, fantastic waves crashing at Point Louise and swam with wild sea lions. In what other country could you do all those things in one area? It was fantastic.
The pinnacle were like being on the moon on earth. The pinnacles are thousands of limestone pillars that seem to grow out of the sand dunes. They truly have to be seen to be believed. Stromatalites are the oldest living things in the world and incredibly are what we all evolved from. You can only see them in 5 places in the world and once of them is at Cervantes 22 km south of Jurien Bay.
On Sunday I swam with sealions and I have never been so happy and terrified at the same time before. The visability wasn't good and once Rachael and I convinced ourselves into the choppy water excitment had taken over. Putting my face into the water I was shocked to be faced with two big brown eyes starting up at me. The sealions were so happy to play and swim along side us. I realised very much how crap swimmers humans are when watching the sealions race around us and launch themselves into massive leaps out of the water. Absolute magic.
Photos of sealions to follow when I get my underwater camera developed.
