Early start around 7.30 joined a few vehicles heading along SH94 to Milford Sound, spotted a rainbow felt this was a good omen. Road closures to be updated along the way. Through rainforest canopies , past small holdings in remote open scrub land beautiful views . We pressed on praying the road would be open . The rivers through the ravines had caused low cloud. Passing through farm land sheep and more sheep !!! Several deer farms and dairy herds. Stopped at Clifdean Suspension Bridge now unused but a rare wooden bridge. Then down came the rain again. Poured until late afternoon. Nice meal this evening at Redcliffe Cafe, fine dining , met girl from Chile. Tomorrow Milford Sound if road is open !!!

Rained most of the night, woke to a chilly fresh morning. Packed up and took the coastal road from St kitts along the Otago Penisula to Larnach Castle. A true Scottish feel to this area, well restored and well laid out took a few hours exploring the castle and gardens. Good venue for a wedding !!

The Catlins is a fishing and wildlife reserve, lots of little sheds border the rivers a real get away from it all retreat ! Moving along the coast around 5pm we stopped at Florence Hill Lookout. What a lovely beach. Then it began to rain torrential thunder and lightening . We reached Invercargill around 7.30, pleased to park up for the night. PS still raining see photo .
