After lunch took coastal south land scenic route. Thro the Catlins, native bush land bordered by the Antartic. Visited the Purakaunui Falls , a short walk from the gravel road car park thro a wooded forest area. See photo.

Started out around 9 am along the SH 1 at Oamaru stopped to look around the town, very pretty. Visited the old quarter near the docks and walked around the harbour to the Blue Penquin Colony. We saw the nesting boxes . Dave took a lovely photo of one hiding under the walkway, special thanks to the guide for her help. Around the corner we saw a basking seal . On then to the Moeraki Boulders another scenic beach area. Turned off main highway to visit Aramoana Conse...

Arrive Timaru for our third camp site, this one is clean and very well laid out. We walk up thro the park, and have lunch looking out over Caroline Bay , nice meal then walk around the local shops . Not like our high streets, so big chain shops. Do manage to find some running shoes for Dave. He gets back to camp site and goes for a run. I do the washing !!! Over the Rakaia River and the longest bridge in NZ .On to Ashburton a medium sized town, feeding the surrounding farms . Picture shows sprinklers and long straight roads.

Left campsite travelled back along mountain roads like Italian Job ! To Tai Tapu then on to Lincoln, one long street few shops , home of Lincoln University. Heading out of town very straight roads ,little traffic been travelling for about an hour. Open farming countryside, all the sprinklers are working watering the land. Back onto the M1 ,
