Finally at the beaches of Brazil!
I've been waiting for this a long long time... :D
Itacare is a lovely small beach city. All of the attractions inside the city are on one street (stores, restaurants, pubs, hostels and 2 dance bars). We were in a hostel located right at the center of this street.
Itacare is very touristic, so there are many stores with souvenires and expensive restaurants, but it's still a beautiful place. There are a few beaches, one of them is considered the second most beautiful beach in south america (which one is the first? I don't know)... The wheater was nice although not really sunny.
In addition, where were some nice Capoeira dances going on on the street, so we had a fun time watching and listening to those strange fighters.
We only spent 3 days there but managed to take a small boat to a deserted beach, go to a party we couldn't find, dance at the local dancebars (not as exciting as you can expect) and visit 3 beaches including (Dramatic silence...) "The lost beach"...
The lost beach is a beach that is far from the city, 40 minutes walk inside a jungle will get you there, if you don't get lost in the jungle. Getting lost in the jungle is very easy, that's why the beach is called "the lost beach". In addition to the danger of getting lost, there has also been many robbery cases in the area. The last one was just 2 days before we went there, where a group of people robbed a guided tour (including the guide). Our hostel offered a guided tour with police escort, but we are crazy israelies... so we decided to go there by ourselves. We had little money on but had to keep the camera in a very discreet location during the jungle walk...
We were lucky enough to go there with a group of Israeli people, one of which got lost the day before so we knew which way NOT to go.
We got there after about an hour and saw an amazing view. It was worth the walk and the risk! The waves were incredible, I wish I knew how to surf... It wasn't a sunny day but the water were warm and nice and the beach was still spectacular.
3 days were barely enough, but a better paradise awaits for us - on to Morro de sao paulo!
