This morning our Aussie buddies Angus and Alex had bravely agreed to pick us up for a motor bike lesson. After missing another complementary breakfast due to prioritising sleep, a common occurrence, our bike tutors had arrived for the day. In hindsight we should have realised that this day wouldn't be very productive, suppose that's what you get what the alcohol is so cheap! After an hour of sunshine the black clouds flew in so we retired to a bamboo bungalow at the front of a beach bar. This was also where we had our first glass of wine since being in Asia which was very good. However been hassled by local kids dressed as a dragon banging drums wasn't good!
The next few days rolled into one. Beautiful beaches in the day and the crazy old town at night. Due to the Vietnamese holiday of independence there were a lot of celebrations going on as well during this time. It also included lots of free shisha, the "richest homeless guy we'd ever meet" and the burning of US dollars. But I won't go into that!
The last three nights we stayed at Vesper Homestay which I would definitely recommend. It was more like a family run hotel but they were so welcoming and friendly and had the cutest baby! They also just laughed it off when we apologised for coming in at five in the morning one night! The family added to our sadness at leaving our time in Hoi An. After nearly not making the night bus, again due to my terrible navigational skills, we were on the road again to Hanoi. Unless you enjoy not eating for 24 hours because the only food is insect infested or like being stroked by Vietnamese men in your sleep, this journey was the worst to date and we couldn't have been more grumpier when 17 hours later we arrived in Hanoi.
