We arrived in Dalat after a long bus ride and were shocked at how cold it was - only wearing shorts and t-shirt we were made to wait for our transfer to the hostel. We were welcomed by a very friendly lady at Tiny Tigers hostel who showed us to our room - the beds were extremely comfortable.
Easy riders countryside tour
We divided to get out of the city and see the countryside on the outskirts of Dalat. We booked a tour with easy riders where we sat on the back of a motorbike and they took us to see the sights. We enjoyed the fresh air on the way to Van Thanh Flower village to get closer to daily lives of local people. Many kinds of flowers are planted here to make our life more beautiful! From there we crossed Ta Nung pass, taking in the views of Nam Ban town and the mighty sight of huge jungle. Our next stop was to visit Highlands Coffee Plantation and Weasel Coffee Workshop (Kopi luwak or civet coffee) : tasting coffee and learn about coffee making process. Then take a walk around K’Ho minority village and visit the Silk Factory: to watch the silkworm rearing and the process of silk making.
Next stop on the tour was the Elephant Waterfall, the widest waterfall of Lam Dong province, where we had to use our hands to get a closer look. Climbing up to the hill to see a solemn pagoda – Linh An Pagoda with two august dragons flanking two sides. Then touching the huge Happy Buddha can bring you happiness and luck basing on the belief of local people. Lastly we visited a local rice wine factory and a Cricket farm where we got to try the Vietnamese delicacies.
We also took a stop at the Hang Nga Crazy House which would be a great place when closed to the tourists to play hide and seek getting lost in the maze structures.
To finish off a great day we were invited to the "Family" dinner at the hostel which consisted of lots of tasty Vietnamese food.
