Georgie's trip to India
A 13hr train journey flew by with out pull down beds and lots of indian snacks!
We arrived in Varanasi at 8am this morning and headed straight to the Ganges on our cycle rickshaw powered by an elderley man who we thought we might have to cremate after!
we had lunch overlooking the water then took a dusk tour down to the Ghats and watched the cremations which were very eerie.
Men re wrapped in white, women in red and a number of rituals are performed by the eldest son. The cast you belong to determines where you can be cremated. Pregnant & unmarried women, children, Leppers and holy Brahmans are just thrown in with rocks attached! - Heaven help them if the Ganges ever dry out!!!
