So there i was packed and ready for the sunny shores of Cairns...
Had a fare few drinks to say the least, but managed to get an hours kip before waiting at reception for my shuttle to the airport at 4am.
....well next thing i know i'm waking up from passing out on the sofa at 6am a little dazed and freaked out. Ringing the shuttle i find out they wrote the wrong date down, however had i rang at 4am asking where my bus was they would have sent one... this information clearly being more useful has i not been in a drunken coma!
After being ripped by everyone at the hostel, i decide to flog off Oz and change my end of month flight to tomorrow (19th June)
At a more reasonable time of 5pm, i manage to catch my flight this time! Slept the whole flight what turned out to be good going seen as i was in for a nice 2 hour wait to get through customs (apparently 4 people working when 3 flights have arrived is the perfect number!)
So with banging migrane in tow i pushed past the crowd of Balineese taxi drivers, and booked a hotel, although at 200,000rp p/n being far more than i wanted to pay, all i wanted by this stage was to pass out in a bed!
My emotions were everywhere by the time i settled in my room, & after i realise my mobile has no service and ipod dead i broke down crying convinced i'd made the wrong decision?
....
Woke up in the morning with a little more enthusiasm i would get something done with myself... but a quick walk around Kuta just took me back to my feelings of yesterday!
Booked an extra night at the Sanjaya hotel, a not so cheap budget hotel on the backstreets of Jalan Raya Legion. My room consisting of a double bed, fridge, t.v that doesnt work and an ensuite containing a western toilet, sink and hold it yourself shower, all facing a cozy courtyard pool.
Kuta daunted me, but i figured its something i have to get used to seen as i've never experienced anywhere like it before.
The Balineese people seem friendly, if not overly so... i did manage to befreind a man who, while i was on a mission to find an adapter, offered to when we had finished work take me on his moped to Densepar where i could find one cheap - i reluctantly declined.
Later i meet an Auzzie girl who moved into the room next to me, after bonding over the fact she lives in Manly, i got chatting to her about a year she has just spent voulnteering in Cambodia and some things i should see over here... she does also tell me Kuta is the busiest place in the whole of Bali which makes me feel a bit better about thinking it crazy!
