The Monkey Goes Travelling
Well I survived the three day intensive trekking in Pai ( pronounce bye). Walking in the mountains would have been wonderful if it had not been so hard!!! These were real mountains not like the one I thought was a mountain in the Tiger Temple! We walked for about 4 hours a day with a few breaks!!! Trust me to have the first accident, I fell over walking down our first hill and cut my knee. Matt took a picture of it - will add it when he emails it to me!!! Cos I am sure you all want to see it!!! Nick fell off a bridge that collapsed and Ellen held onto a tree to help her down onto the bridge Nick fell off and it bit her, leaving some nice spikes in her hand!!!! So we all did well.
Arrived at the first village about 3pm and it was so nice, even if we were all battered and bruised, the village was so remote and the villagers so friendly. We sat around in bamboo huts eating and drinking until the early hours of the morning!!! I spent a long time outside (being biten alive) just looking at the stars! I often thought the stars from Criccieth were the best I had ever seen - but these were so amazing! There were so so many I couldnt believe how visble they were - shows how much light pollution in England effect everything!!! Spent the night in a bamboo hut, on the floor that had a big hole in it!!! But it was such a brill experience!
Woke up the next day and I thought someone had been wrestling with me all night, my body was already starting to ache!!! Another day of full trekking, including 3 hours to get to a waterfall, which was nice and cold and then to the elephants! They were so beautiful, but very big. Of course I managed to get the one with a bit of an attitude that always wanted to go another way from the rest . He was always trying to get leaves of the trees to cover his head from the flys and then took it a step further and threw soil all over us! After the elephants village 2, again a lovely meal and drink. a bit too much drink really as woke up the 3rd day thinking the elephant had been sat on my head all night!!!! Walking and hang overs dont go well!!! Ellen got a motorbike ride on the thrid day as she sparined her ankle (see photo) walking to the toilet! hehehehehe, but it did look really bad and is still straped up now.
The third days walking was so much fun, my body hurt from head to toe, but it was either quite flat walking or i had got fitter after the previous 2 days walking!!!! hehehehe!!!! We arrived at the end of our walking to get on a bamboo raft down the river to meet the jeep and Ellen!!!!
had a few races with the other two rafts but in the end just gave up cos i was so so tried!!!! then the truck home, where most people just slept and back to nice place inn and straight into the pool to rest my sore body!!!!
Out for pizza that night and then to sleep!!!!!
it was very very nice experience but not sure i would do it again!!!
Anyway i have been in the internet cafe for nearly 3 hours trying to get this sorted now - so going to head off now!!!!
Thanks for all you emails and messages
I love you all xxxx
