So we've been rubbish at updating this (Sorry about that) but you know not too sorry, it just kinda proves that we're having an AMAZING time.
So since we last upated, we've done many a things a highlight being taking the boys to the beach and THE coolest play park in the entire world, no rubbish english safety crap or that nonsense..just pure fun, add in a palm tree or two, sand under your feet and a view of the sea, its pretty much perfect.
We saw a shark, ok so not a big shark but to us it was huge and reasonably scary. They're really ugly. On that note we also discovered a VERY unwelcome visitor in our house this morning, a baby snake.. we were not impressed in the slightest. Which leads on nicely to the other and definitely worst visitor that we've had so far. A ginormous, black, cockroach. DISGUSTING, almost as bad as the infestation of ants that we have every single day... but moving on from the creatures of Goa.
Things are going really well here. We are definitely settled now (Which you would expect after 5 weeks) we've made some really good relationships with the staff, the kids and the church... and most of all Renuka, possibly the best person in the world. We cant really explain her to you, but if you met her you would understand (Sophie will know)
Also had our fair amounts of curry (Katherine more than I- to be honest i havent really touched curry- unless sticking my finger to taste Katherines counts?)
We've just come back from going to the Inox to see a Bollywood film with Beena (not that we're slacking or anything- but sometimes you need a little bit of time to relax when you've been running after 55 boys and 34 ish girls for 5 weeks) It had a giant monkey in it, so natrually provided us with lots of entertainment. We are also perfecting our learning of the National Anthem and are hoping that by May 1st (our departue date from this fine place) we will be word perfect! (not that we go to the cinema all the time or anything!)
Got nits,
potentially developing scabies
Ring worm
Mumps
I joke (but not about the nits- oh how i wish i could be though)
Had a rather pleasurable girlie weekend thanks to Rachel, a girl we've met out here who lives here for 6 months each year. It involed chocolate, cheese, singing with kitchen utensils and dancing around in our underwear. So good times were had and it almost felt as if we were back in good old Woking.
Went to the Marriot for a buffet lunch a few days back which was A-mazing! Definitely ate way too much but its the Marriot so its allowed.
The kids have had two days of school this week for various different holidays, the best being Holi, which is where everyone has powder paint and water guns and go around chucking it at each other. Don't really know what the relevance this has to Hindus but we had fun nonetheles being hit with orange paint and a water balloon. But anyway, this has meant that the last two days have been manic but also very fun. Its given us a taster of what it will be like when they break up for summer (in a months time) so we're now prepared for how much stuff we're going to have to think of to keep them entertained!
When the kids do actually go to school our days generally consist of playing with the little ones in the morning, making about a thousand paper aeroplanes, box and boats and listening to endless children saying "auntie, do for me boxxxxxx" which after a while can be rather annoying! Then we eat lunch.. with hands of course, embracing the Indian culture. Then attmept to study with them, but that usually fails after about 7 minutes, 10 if your lucky. You only really get to study with them properly if you do it one on one and then it works, but with 55 children it makes one to one time pretty much impossible. On the plus side, Katherine and i have learnt our times tables all over again so are moving forward slightly in the maths world. We dont want to be upstaged by the kids who are just parrots when it comes to learning.
So all in all, life is pretty gravy.
Enjoying it muchly.
Prayers much appreicated, health is still good and so is everything else.
Love to you all
xxxxx
