Just off Bruce Highway onto Steve Irwin way, was this little beauty! Possibly the most Australian sounding road names going. Got the Aus Zoo bus from Noosa, with all the Germans from the hostel. Watched a Steve Irwin video of him and a bunch of orangatans, which lead to me thinking there should be some form of drinking game for everytime he says 'Crikey' or 'This little beauty'.
Getting to the Zoo I realised Monday wasn't really the busiest day - either this of most Aussies had been watching the weather, as it was pretty poop weather. Pretty much as soon as I got in, after forgetting to pay for the bus, I heard an announcement for feeding elephants, so thought why not! Didn't realise how big the zoo was. I've managed to get lost in Noosa at least three times so far just going down the road. So sure enough I got lost here. Took a good while to find the elephants, but somehow ended up beating the Germans. Fed some elephants.
Next I met some Roo's. For some reason you had to pay $2 for Kangaroo food, I could hardly afford $2 to spend on my own food. After walking around seeing people feeding Kangaroos I realised I hadn't even seen a croc yet. Then I stood in kangaroo poo which was hard to dodge to be fair. After this, I thought I'd go see some crocs, so ended up at the croc show which was awesome. The size of some of them was crazy. So next I ended up passing some photo studio where you could hold a croc (baby croc) - thought why not.
After watching a couple of episodes of Australia Zoo at home I figured i'd pretty much got the gist of what Steve Irwin did, but apparently not. He started 'catching' crocs when he was about 9 - about the same age I started catching pokemon. Can't really write everything about Steve Irwin as I'd run out of internet time and that's not cool when you have $1 to your name.
Wasn't really planning on going to the zoo until a few days ago but was definatly worth it - and would recommend anyone travelling Aus to take some time out to do this specially if you used to watch Australia Zoo as a kid.
Getting back to the hostel I realised a few English had checked in which was cool. Got speaking to someone called Sarah for a while, who i'll probably meet again once I get back to Sydney. Then a few came into my room from nearish where I live and know some people on the wirral - no one I knew though unfortuantly. Might be going out tonight with my dollar - so looks like i'll be on the goon.
The next day in Noosa was spent surfing. FINALLY. Unfortunatly the surf wasn't amazing but it was nice just to have a few hours at the beach. After this I headed back to Noosa where suddenly it hit me that I had just over two weeks left. So decided it was due time to spend all my money saved from door to door sales once on booking some tours for the remainder of the east coast. $820 down it was sorted. Fraser island and Whitsundays booked but all on a very tight schedual with not much room for anything to change but it felt good to be organised for the first time since i've been travelling.
