Back to travelling!
After 5 weeks spent in Surfers Paradise working it's finally time to stop knocking doors and start opening many different hostel doors. For some reason I decided not to get to bed nice and early and be all prepared for the move, but instead to stay at a bar called Melbas till gone 2am at the Casino and go to a mates apartment with everyone from work - unfortunatly however all of this was done completely sober as I couldn't afford a pint.
Missing over 5 alarms that I had set on my state of the art phone that cost a dollar, finally woke up at 10 to 9, with the bus arriving at half past a good 5 miniute walk away - 15 miniutes when in flip flops that were pretty worn and torn. Finished packing, got some breakfast, cheeky bit of Facebook, then it was time to leave Gold Coast International Backpackers. After 5 weeks of falling asleep watching the communal telly, just missing the free BBQ, waking almost everyone up in an attempt to break in after they'd locked up and I'd managed to break my key, pool, darts, eating kangaroo, complaining about work. It had become a home from home, everyone there was really down to earth and chilled - going to miss that place but if I can afford it i'm going to come back later before going back to the UK.
Just making it to the bus stop after walking like John Wayne in ice skates, I managed to make it almost on time. Was the last person there. With 25 eager backpackers awaiting getting to Brisbane, they didn't look too happy. Spent a good 5 miniutes after ariving late, trying to find a place where the guitar looked comfy. First stop was a petrol stop, which somehow took 45miniutes. Grabbed a Subway, and a top gear mag which is something I don't normally read and it cost a lot, think this was out of bordem. Got told an aboridgional story by the driver, handed a VIP OzExperience wrist-band for a few cheeky discounts in bars and hostels, then headed to Mugluliululu (or something). After stepping foot there for less than 10 seconds I realised I should probably have stayed at least one night as it looked amazing but unfortunatly didn't have enough time, i'll try and find out the name for anyone that might read this and would definatily recommend staying and exploring it if you're lucky enough to have the time!
Arrived at Noosa Heads. This is apparently the last place to surf before I head further up the East Coast - and it looked like pretty much everyone was taking advantage of this. Explored Noosa for a good while as soon as I got dropped off as the Hostel was a bit of a drive away from the beach, however I wasn't meant to do this I was supposed to get straight on the bus to the Hostel - still getting used to travelling. This was told to me thanks to a woman at in information desk a good 20 miniute walk from where I got dropped off, so I walked back in my flip flops - if they can be called that still fairly deformed at this stage.
Just made it on the Noosa Backpackers bus as there was one seat left. Didn't know much about this place before getting their apart from the fact that I get a free bacon and egg roll in the morning which I think was in Lonely Planet and was my main reason for going - never say no to free food. It's turned out to be really great, has a pool, resturant, bar, free surfboard hire, and free bus to the zoo, which is my plan for tomorrow if I can wake up on time.
Haven't met anyone from my room yet, but I know all of next door are French or German after almost becoming their new room mate. I will update this probably tomorrow arvo when I get back from the Zoo as internets expensive here and Youtube doesn't work - starting to miss music a lot but luckily people have been awesome and lent me the odd Ipod at times. Although Bob Marley's playing at the miniute in the hostel so it's all good.
7pm. Everyones German. Met one girl from Guernsey and everyone else is from Germany pretty much and seem to have come in a group so they know each other and haven't spoke anything apart from German since they arrived so can't join in their conversation which is the reason I'm back on here. They seem pretty chilled though. Also just realised i've left some stuff in Surfers, but, Youtube's working.
Been for a walk after meeting a few people from the room and have realised that Noosa is amazing. Although the hostel is a fair walk from the town and main beach, right down the road is a huge river where you can rent jet skis, go fishing, swim... get a burger - which is the option I went for. Really picturesque place as you can probably tell by the picture, cross between Abersoch (in Wales) and Miami not that I've been there, but seems to be a lot of yatches about.
I've decided that i'm definatily going to get to the zoo tomorrow on time, so set another 3 alarms between 6am and 7am. Which will most likely just wake up everyone in my room apart from me like it normally does, but worth a go.
