We hope that you all are having a fabulous Turkey Day and are enjoying all the fixin´s with the ones you love. We are currently in Antigua, Guatemala and plan to break bread today at Pollo Campecho (KFC with a little Guatemalan flavor). The following are the top 10 things we are thankful for this Thanksgiving.
1) Our family and friends.
Thank you to everyone who has left us messages and emails. It is always nice to catch news from back home and hear how you are doing. We appreciate all the support we´ve received, and we miss you all dearly.
2) Clean water from the tap.
Although pumping tap water through our filter is fun and the chlorine we use as backup gives it that refreshing swimming pool taste, the days of turning a k*** and getting sparkling clean water to drink are fondly remembered.
3) Clean beds and sheets.
The phrase, ¨sleep tight, don´t let the bed bugs bite,¨ sounded cute as a kid but is quite frightening as an adult.
4) Flushing toilet paper.
As you may or may not know, in various countries you are asked to throw your used toilet paper in a basket instead of flushing it down the toilet. We prefer to think there is a reason this stuff is flushed rather than left to ferment in the garbage.
5) Washing machines and Moms.
Clothes should come out smelling nicer than they did when you began handwashing them.
6) Insurance
Although we haven´t had to use it, after some of these Indy-style bus rides and crazy tours, we are thankful that we have it.
7) Clean underwear.
It´s a simple pleasure. Don´t take it for granted! There are only so many times you can flip them inside out.
8) Salad.
In an attempt to avoid Moctezuma and his revenge (He tried to claim Genny once already but she resisted), we have deemed the concept of eating salad washed in tap water more dangerous than shark diving. Oh, what we wouldn´t give for a bowl of Trader Joe´s Spring Mix.
9) Cup O´Noodle.
Salvation in a cup. A last minute addition to the list since Genny is eating it right now and can´t help but dance and hum as she slurps down each spork full.
10) The opportunity to travel and live our dreams.
Happy Thanksgiving from the Wanderfools!
