hello!
think i should write an alternative guide to south east asia, what do you think? i've been walking what seems like miles round bangkok in last few days!! (good training for moonwalk becks!! yes i've volunteered again! actually not sure i remember volunteering may take that up with becks next time i see her!!!!) anyway i may have cured my phobia of temples (sorry but an entire day walking round penang temples xmas 2004 left me a tad mentally scared, Col with agree with me on that!)
anyway bangkok is gorgeous, i know, i know ive been here before but shamefully never really done anything but drink the odd local beverage and shopped! oops!! anyway went to royal palace yesterday, i walked much to the annoyance of the local tuk tuk drivers!! they dont understand the english apparently! we walk too much!! :o) anyway palace was gorgeous! becks did threaten me with saying it was just like forbidden city in beijing! no chance this place wasnt full of rude chinese for a start and it didnt make every muscle in my legs quake at the sight of it! very cool! lots of pics taken oops!!
As for buddhas these guys are the experts, there everywhere, went to emerald guy the other day (see i have stopped siesta'in!!) anyway not quite the image i expected, not sure what i expected but everything here is done in large scale so guess i expected huge over-whelming green buddha! the guys about 2 foot tall felt quite sorry for him really!! i wander if these buddhas get together and compare stats, this little guy wouldnt do too well, although he does have a very impressive chair to sit in!! see told you i should do an alternative guide! way more imformative than rough guide!!
What else .... oh went to golden mountain coz well someone told me i should, i'm really not reading this guide very well am i? anyway not quite sure what it was, except good cardio respiratory workout getting to the top! pretty view, came back down again!! there another chapter written for guide!
Today was spent getting lost looking for some huge standing buddha (yes another one there really quite cool, dont worry i'll show you all the photos!!!) anyway he cant be that huge i didnt find him!!! he must have gone for a stroll! probably to see the green guy?!!
So all in all walking heaps! getting to know the local river boats service REALLY well, it helps when you realise you have to walk all the way home too!!! and i have to say my map reading skills are now amazing! course i still wouldnt pass me the map in the car!!
Oh cant go without telling you about my horrendous massage i just "treated" myself to!! i never knew i had half those muscled and i'm pretty sure she killed some!! i opened eyes at one particulary painfull point to realise she was standing on me! she wasnt what you'd call petite either!! course i feel great now but i quite like to enjoy the experience as well! i didnt know you were meant to use elbows and knees to massage people? anyway that treat over i'm off to treat what muscles are still talking to me to a local beverage!! :o) love you all xxx
oh forgot to mention the floating market, for those in the know picture petalin street but on boats (meaning no escape)!! hysterical fun and not all tat some really nice floating food stalls, anyway a sight not to be missed!! course the journey home i could have taken rain check on, a rock flew up and shattered the whole windscreen on mini bus. not smashed just shattered and the driver drove an hour back to bangkok without being able to see out of it, sit back ad pray moment especially with bangkok drivers!!!
And gwen sorry for making you jealous and yes i do give in to tuk tuk occasionally there fab!! xx
