Having spent last night cooking I was glad of an early night and a little lie in! Today is gemma and sarah build a peony fence day! :) and what started off being an optimistic day turned out to be a long slog!
The two highlights of the day...
Going up the light house
The thunder which was right above us and scared the birds sheep and us! Birds fly when thunder strikes!
The f+*king peony fence.
It's not a much the building of the fence that was the problem it was the taking it down which was a nightmare! The fence had a million pegs in it, metal staple like pegs and 3 layers of wiring two which went into the ground and under where we were standing! Me and Sarah must have cut every finger trying to get the stuff out the ground all for a plant which is from the Mediterranean. Having said this the only fun but sawing and hammering nails took us an hour!
Luckily for us the trinity house musketeers rocked up at 10.00am and let us go up the light house.. Reminiscing about around the twist ... Remember it? We climbed the 112 steps to the top! And got to go out onto the balcony! It was windy and hailing by the time we got up there! But so amazing it let's you appreciate how small the island is!
As we went back to fence building ... I said was that lightening... Cue massive thunder cloud bands, the sheep bolted and I threw the scissor thinking that its metal! I've never heard thunder that loud.. It was amazing though (picture of birds)
Jamie's cooking tonight so we're just waiting for that after a serious wet wipe wash!
