We arrived in Noosa on Fri 4th May for three nights. We stayed at Noose Backpackers Resort which was a bus ride from the main beach etc. We were near the river which had loads of nice restaurants and bars etc. The first night caught the courtesy bus provided by the hostel into Noosa and to Murphy's Irish Bar. Ended up very drunk, and back at hostel bar for more! Feeling very rough the next day we went to Sunshine Beach which was really nice. Lovely warm water and so clear.
On Sunday 6th May (our 6yr anniversary!) we went to Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin's Zoo) for the day. The zoo provide a free coach from Noosa and on the way showed Steve's videos etc which were quite sad to see. We had such a good day at the zoo, saw loads of animals and the Croc show at the Crocoseum, which included all kinds of colourful birds, snakes and crocs of course. Also saw the elephants being fed, tigers and patted Kangeroos! Also got our pic taken with a Koala which was really heavy, a lot heavier than expected the fat little bloater!
At the zoo there are loads of khaki "Steve" shirts hung up with rememberance messages on and loads of things left in his memory. It was really quite sad reading them all. Didnt realise what a legend this man was. Have always loved his shows and knew he was good at what he did, but after visiting the zoo you realise what a character and really nice guy he was. He knew all the staff, the cleaners, catering staff etc, by their names and some of them told us stories about what he used to do and say to them.
