Fri 20th Apr. We arrived at Coffs Harbour from Port Macquarie...stayed here for four nights but two would have done.Once we had explored the jetty/harbour area, cycled around Coff's creek, both of which were beautiful sights to see...we felt ready to move on.We had however pre-paid for our hostel which they wouldnt refund, so had to stay the full four nights. We walked, went to the beach and hung out in the hostel doing the usual eating and drinking until we left for Byron bay on tues 24th April.
We really liked Byron Bay, although only stayed for three nights. There was much more going on here as some of you may know who has visited Byron.Lots of pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants...and some very interesting people to say the least! Its a very hippy kind of place, chilled out, but lots going on.We took the beautiful walk to the lighthouse where we were lucky enough to watch the dolphins swim around the rocks and then amongst the early morning surfers.Amazing sights, check out the pictures. The views were amazing.Times like this we realise all the travelling and living out of a rucksack is all worth it!Till we have to pack again and lug our stuff around to the next place!
At Byron Rocky got his tattoo...will upload the pics hopefully. Its a tribute to his Dad, his initials, year he was born and year he died.He felt fine, it was me that thought I was going to puke, hence the reason I could never get one done myself!
Fri 27th April we moved onto Murwillumbah and Mount Warning. We stayed only two nights, initially only to climb the mountain.Apart from that and our lovely hostel which was on the riverside, there was'nt much else to do here. Oh unless you stumble accross a huge bad of weed in the street! Yep right outside the police station, a massive bag of skunk just laying there, must have been at least a couple hundred pounds worth! The climb of Mount Warning was an experience. For me (Gem) it was a nightmare, possible one of the worse days of my life.It takes two hours to climb and two hours to get back to the bottom.Just after an house we were 3/4 of the way up, so doing good timing. Then the heavens opened, I mean monsoon rain! Most of the climb was in the rainforest going up, so lots of trees, rocks, had to really watch your footing. We got to a part of the track which was completely covered by fallen down trees, and these trees were big!I looked round and said to Rocky, no way, Im not climbing over that!Anyway we did.We got about 300metres from the summit, and we were soacked through to our underwear, freezing cold and could barely see from all the rain running down our faces into our eyes.I was so not impressed.Rocky was loving it.Talk about being in the jungle. It got really slippy and basically on the way down I slipped, twisted my ankle and fell flat on my backside! Those of you who know me well know what I did then...cried my eyes out...a sh!t end to a sh!t climb.I thought I'd broken it and had visions of a helicopter rescue team coming to get me down!!!It was fine, just bruised and swolen.I hobbled down to the bottom, sobbing how I wanted to me in my bed at home with my Mummy looking after me!Poor Rocky...what has he let himself in for coming away with me for such a long time!
Sunday 29th April onto Surfers Paradise for three nights. Here the beach went on forever and ever.Such clear water...we spent most of the time on the beach and messing about in the waves like little kids!We liked it here too, lots to do like Byron and lots going on.Lots of good shops too!We went to White Water World Water Park on tuesday which was wicked...loads of slides and the usual stuff. Here I managed to cut my knee open in the wave pool and bash my toe coming down one of the little kiddie slides!!!But best of all we met Spongebob squarepants...yes a line of little kids with their parents waiting to have their picture taken with spongebob...and then me and Rocky at the back! This was soley for our gorgeous little Molly who absolutely loves spongebob!Had to get the pic for her...honest, no other reason!
Our last night in surfers we chilled after a couple of late nights out...and of course because we had to get up at 4.30am to see Liverpool V Chelsea, and it was so worth it!Come on you reds...into the final! What a game and even better we knocked Chelsea out!!!Very very happy today with the result! We are up again tomorrow at the same time so see if we face ManU in the final...have a feeling we will! What a final that will be!
Today (Weds 2nd may) we left Surfers this morn for Brisbane where we plane to stay for a couple of nights. So far have wandered around today, went to the man made beach which was odd!Tonight going to cinema I think...trying to avoid hitting the bars and alcohol if we can!
Going to try and upload some pics now so hope you like them.Have rushed this so probably missed out loads but you get the gist!
