After no sleep we arrived at Bangkok airport. We went straight to the Bangkok Airways counter to try and get some tickets for a flight to Koh Samui. Luckily they had a few spaces so we booked it despite it costing us quite a lot of cash, we didn't really have many options as we only have 2 weeks here in Thailand. We arrived about 9.30am and from there we booked a ticket to what we thought was Buddha Pier where you get a ferry accross to Koh Phangan. We only decided to book the ticket from the airport as Si had got chatting to this girl called Meg who had done the trip to Koh Phangan about 3-4 times and she said it was a good idea so we didn't question it. We turned up at the pier and suprise suprise it was the wrong friggin pier so we were down 750 baht straight away, DAAAAMMMMITTT!
She decided that we needed to get to the other pier so we grabbed a taxi there. She agreed on a fee of 200 baht when we got in and again we got stiched up as it was literally about a minute away. At this point i was thinking ok she has made a few errors and it will be cool. Luckily it was the correct pier!
Unfortunately that was not the end of our problems that day. Throughout the day the weather had been scorching but as soon as we got out onto the pier to board the boat the heavens opemed and me and si got a bit wet! The next problem was that due to the rain everyone crammed into the downstairs of the boat that had no windows. This resulted in a sauna like atmosphere with the worst boat journey i have ever been on! The weather turned shocking all round and the waves were crazy..at one point it looked a bit dicey but the crazy thai guys just said yeah it will be fine and just carried on...mental. Looking at Si he did not look to clever and to be honest i felt horrendous, possibly the longets 50 mins of my life!
We finally reached Haad Rin pear in Koh Phangan and as the rain continued to tropical storm it down we seeked shelter and waited for it to stop raining to start our accommodation search. Yeah it didn't stop raining did it and after talking to loads of british people we started to feel a bit apprehensive as everyone was going "What! You haven't booked accommodation! You're screwed!" I decided screw it lets just go to the place i looked up on the internet and see if they have anything, if not we'll look elsewhere! Made it a bit more exciting anyway! :)
After getting to the Cocohuts resort they tried to do me over by saying they only had these really nice rooms and i thought i've had enough of having the piss taken out of me so i just got a bit cheeky and suprise suprise a cheap room became available! The room i thought at first was extremely basic but after i saw the other accomodation on the island i realised that we had done alright really. The resort itself was really nice but as stated our room was a bit desperate, literally imagine opening the door and you fell onto the bed...it was that so small. The bathrooms were shared and shocking. A bit dirty and no hot water! Welcome to travelling. After a few days its so wierd how you adjust!
The rest of the day was not that eventful as Si didn't feel amazing so we went on a general trek of the area to get a feel for the place
