GaylenJim Exploring
Awoke to a misty morning on the river bank. Soon burned off to another warm cloudless day.
Departed 0915 and headed for Rockhampton (Hampton means "town on a river flat" and Rock comes from the exposed rocks in the river).
Travelled via Mount Larcom, Ambrose, Raglan, Marmor and Midgee arriving at Rocky around 1145. Lots of roadworks on the highway with repeated stops.
Booked in to a park as free camping here is scarce, and spent the afternoon looking around, finishing up at the Heritage Museum.
Today's photo was taken there for Lance's benefit.
Have decided this is as far north as we want to go, so will head inland tomorrow.
We expect it will get a little hotter in the daytime and colder at night.

Gray Sutcliffe The Botanical Gardens are worth a short visit although completely different from Hobart's better colours. Take care on those back roads. x Gray
gaylenjim Thanks mate. Plan to strike back to the Tweed Coast when we get down there and will try for Hastings Point park for a couple of nights. No idea of dates so will keep you informed closer to the time. Met a really nice bloke from Pottsville the other day. Very keen fisherman. Currently at bowls club, Gayle on machines. No dark beer but VB is ok!!
