Finally left Derby this morning after speaking with RAA explaining that we have to move on and leave the camper there at the motel. Just before we left a bloke turned up to look at it but it is out of our hands now, it doesn't belong to us anymore. We might actually get some sleep tonight.
Arrived at Broome this afternoon most accommodation is booked out due to the Broome Cup, horse racing, there is also a rodeo on tonight. We were offered a room for $300 or $600 a night but declined and accepted one on a farm stay 30 Kms back on the road from Derby. A real Aussie experience, had to avoid the free range chooks in the driveway. Pets are welcome here and there is a very friendly cat who rushed into our room under the bed when we opened the door. You know how Dennis loves cats, well this wouldn't happen very often but see for yourself in today's photo.
Broome is a busy place, we had a coffee at the Dragonfly cafe and visited one of the many pearl shops, this one had 2 of the old pearling boats and diving paraphernalia along with information signage which was very interesting. I am currently reading a novel set in Broome about the pearling industry and the multicultural population so it is quite interesting seeing the places that have been mentioned.
