On 28 JUne we spent the morning trying to sort out our mobile technology at a phone store in the heart of Rome without great success but at least managed to get 2 local mobiles happening. Then on to the area surrounding the Colosseum with a view to taking in the area before our tour started of Ancient Rome. We had a pleasant lunch at a cafe overlooking the Colosseum then circumnavigated it taking photos as we went. Then our tour. It was wonderful, we were able to skip the lines and then get a structured tour of the Colosseum. This was great to learn of the goings on and the entertainment tastes of the Ancient Romans make the average Rugby League player looking like tea swigging gentlemen. On we went through the archeological zone and really impossible to absorb a couple of thousand years in a couple of hours... but again a greater appreciation of Rome as an ongoing centre of civilisation. An early dinner in Testaccio and then another deep sleep.
