We both woke up early with a combination of jet lag and excitement. Ket had not slept well because of her excitement from being in Rome and anticipation of the day ahead. Our body clocks still residing in a different time zone, we resolved to wake up and to start to plan our day. With the Twilight Walking Tour of Ancient Rome not until 5pm we could afford to have a "go with the flow " type of morning. After a nice breakfast in the hotel we opted for a walk in the local area to find a supermarket for some provisions. The area around the Mercure Roma Piazza Bolognia is delightful and we enjoyed a walk through pleasant streets of character buildings and watched the area wakeup. The locals enthusiastically directed us in Italian as we sought our way along the many angles in the streetscape. We enjoyed a coffee in a modern coffee shop in a character building while we waited for the supermarket to open. We enjoyed the shopping together and the fun of getting what we needed in our first of many foreign language shopping adventures. ke'ts body clock signalled it was time for her first mid day siesta and I had a workout in the gym looking to make a peeempitive strike against my prospective pasta lead waist line expansion.
