Time to catch up again. Last time I was writing form the train to Prague and what an adventure that proved to be. We had an adventure having to get off the train twice to hop on dodgy buses and do segments by road due to flood damaged railway.
We checked into the Hilton. Probably our first A class hotel and went for a meal at COA being Cuisine of Asia. Very fresh but not spicy enough for us. We then asked the waitress where to go for a drink and she said the only place to go was the Old Town Square. Wow what a place in the night time. An expansive courtyard filled with people eating and drinking everything from street food like Bratwurst and Crepes to stylish bars and restaurants out under the stars.
I know every blog I talk about elegant and stylish buildings but somehow Prague seems out do the rest. Its had to explain but there is a diversity of colour, height and style that we had not seen. Perhaps it is the taste of Eastern Europe that we have not had before. This is an exotic Europe that I have not experienced before.
Also in this square people are living... eating drinking and laughing and using the space for vibrant life... not just being there because it is another beautiful square to check off the list and photograph. Just so impressed.
We ended up in the British Pub which was just good fun. Yes we could have been in the Orient Hotel at the Rocks with an extra large infestation of Poms. But somehow all the " bath dodgers" present we very well behaved and they seemed not to resent the twofold rendition of " Downunder" A bit of home away from home and a big night. We walked out at 1 am with the city closed down around us and some creepy characters about. We put the wallet deep in the pocket and walked briskly home through the now shadowy cobbled streets.
