Gav & Sarah's Travels
we arived in melbourne on th 9th of may really late at night n it was absolutely tipping it down - nice start!!The flight was a killer, was too long n too uncomfortable. Luckily the hostel we'd booked turned out to be a nice one, only problem was on our first nite we couldnt sleep, managed to drop off about 6 in the morning to be woken up by the fire alarm goin off at 9 n everyone had to be evacuated-we weren't impressed!!! we ended up sleeping in untill 3 o clock in the afternoon so missed half the day!!it took us days to adjust n get a proper nights sleep. We spent the first few days just settling in n wondering the city. Our first proper outing was to the aquarium!!its kinda small, nothing too spectacular but the sharks impressed gav!saw loads of weird, funky fish, took loads of photos but sorry aint got a clue what theyre called. The same day we went up the Rialto Tower-its the highest point in the city. Its 253 metres high and the elevator only takes 30 seconds to the top.yea our stomachs went bananas! Gav some some lovely views-i didnt actually see that much because my legs kept wobbling everytime i went near the edge. We went back in the night to take some photos of the city lit up but the battery was dying so thats why the photos are blurry. Our next outing which is Gavs highlight so far, haha was on the neighbours tour.It was sad but it had to be done! We travelled around the whole time in a painted tour bus, listening to neighbours pop songs n watching old episodes! was very cheesy!!!haha. firstly we visited Erinsborough High, which is actually a school from chinese students to learn english. The guide put up a fake temporary sign so we could have photos taken!Next we drove past the studio complex, we waited outside hoping to see someone famous-but we never :o( haha Then we drove to 'The Street' in real life its actually quite small n people acutually live in the houses but they get payed serious money just to use the front of their houses. We recieved a free souvenior......a postcard and magnet haha the postcard is already on its way to Gavs mum!! The next day we went on 'The Great Ocean Road' tour, which takes you along the coast, the views were lush, loads of lil beaches n lil towns. The tour highlights were a rainforest walk, bush walk-saw our first koala haha, The 12 Apostles and The Loch Ard Gorge. There were originally lots or apostles but they keep breaking away so they are gradually dissapearing. The tour ended up at The Loch Ard Gorge-a cove where a famous shipwreck happened-cant remember the full story tho haha. after a long day of sightseeing we started to head back to Melbourne but our lights on our bus stopped working so we called for like a RAC guy to come out , he came, couldnt fix it so we had to drive all the way back -a good 3 hours with full beam on!!sound nothing but at the time we was scared haha. The next day we were bored n cold n felt like we'd seen all of Melbourne so we packed up booked a bus ticket n after a 12 hour drive we ended up in Sydney.
