Full day today. Left Lima for Nazca. On the way we did a boat ride out to the Ballestas Islands, also sometimes referred to as the "Peruvian Galapagos" Not quite the Galapagos's equal but still worth a visit. Saw a shed load of sea birds (Lots of Peruvian boobies) and sea lions. Useful fact: For every one male sea lion there are 20 females. With those odds you'd fancy your chances. Left Lima for Pisco today. A four hour bus journey of close shaves on a single carriage way. Explored Pisco with fellow travellers upon arrival. Small but busy town still recovering from a devastating earthquake in 2007. Causes me to stop and ponder the reasoning for following a major fault line for the first three months of our travels. Oh well, will e visiting the "Peruvian Galapagos" tomorrow.

Second day in Lima. Main plaza closed off by police. Pockets of what appeared to be Peruvian pensioners gathered together. It appeared they had a bone to pick with their government. Decided to avoid them and explore an old Franciscan monastery dating waaaay back. Here we are shown some of the remaining bones of some 20000 people buried in the churches catacombs.
