Today was a travelling day, we woke up to a freezing cold Reno, looking out of our 22 story room you could see mountains covered in snow that wasn't there yesterday. It was an early bus so we got up. Checked out and walked down the road to the old smelly greyhound! The wind was so cold. It gave the Canadian Rockies a run for their money.
Our bus driver was telling us of possible delays because of the snow the mountain range that we are just about to drive through. We left on time but before long we were in loads of traffic and the snow must have been at last 2 foot. Crazy. Their is nothing me and Chris could do but stick it out. (We arrived in to the lovely (joke) town of Sacramento where we were changing buses.
Our journey continue west to San Francisco. My first glimpse of the Golden Gate Bridge was as we drove through Oakland. I was like a school kid and got a bit excited. There was an impressive sunset behind the bridge, but couldn't get a good picture as we were moving. It wasn't long before it was pitch black. Pulling into San Francisco you could see all the high rise building, and it looked very busy. We only had to jump on one bus down Geary Street to our hostel. It was a nice hostel and we were in a 4 bed mixed dorm, the other people were a couple from Ireland. They seemed nice, didn't really talk much.
We had spent most of the day travelling so we were both starving, and needed some dinner, I think we both had the feeling that the quantity of food was better than the quality tonight! We found a 24 hour diner. The food was actually really and we washed it down with a much needed bud. I had a Greek dish, very good except covered in raw onion, which I am not a fan of. After food we headed to a bar around the corner from the hostel. It was called the Owl Tree, the beer was cheap so everything was good. We got talking to a guy that had been on a TV show and won over 20 thousand dollars (wheel of fortune) but he had spunked it all away! He loved the word "b****'en" apparently it's a good thing!
We had a couple of southern comforts, before heading to bed.
At around 3 am me and Chris were both woken by a snorer. The couple were sharing the lower bunk, and he was snoring so bad "Lisa Jane" bad. Lol. I had to get my headphones.!
