Hey guys!
We are here in The Gambia!
We had a fantastic warm welcome at the airport from all of Pa's family and friends. In the evening we got to know everyone and listened to some gambian music and chilled out recovering from the scorching heat. We also had a guided tour of the estate we are staying on and we felt a real sense of community and again evreyone we met was very welcoming and friendly. They make us feel at home and cannot do enough for us.
Today we had a meeting with Hands on Care which is a organisation that assists people with health problems in Brikama. We met with the program officer and the accountant and arranged a day of placement in the clinic and in the community setting for friday.
We also visited a craft market which Pa's father established and we met some interesting and friendly people and saw some fantastic wood carvings done by the local people. Although this market reflects the true essence of gambia arts and wood carving, unfortunatly tourists rarely visit it as big companies take them on big excursions.
We have tried lots of Gambia food which has been delicious and very filling and have tried papaya which is a new experience!
We're all well and safe and we'll try and keep you as updated as possible when we have access to internet we will try and work out how we can get our photos up here too.
