2 months into our travels, and here we are in yet another country! We landed in New Zealand on Sunday evening and we have been staying in the surburbs of Auckland since, at the home of Emma's family friends. Its such a nice change to be in a house with a comfy bed which isnt a bunk bed! On Monday we headed straight out to Waiheke Island - a short ferry ride away from Auckland, it is an amazing little island with rolling hills, sheep, amazing forests and greenery, sheep, wine, perfect blue sea, sheep... and um, sheep? We were shown around the island by my cousin, Clement, who is working at the biggest vineyard there. We even had our own personal private tasting session! It was a great little tour of the island, its such a beautiful area. It really kick-started our NZ travels and gave us a little insight into what to expect here. Basically, lots of empty beautiful land! Which sounds awesome.
Today we had a little explore of the city of Auckland, bought some weather-appropriate clothes (I had to dig out my winter clothes from the bottom of my backpack after two months in asian and australian temperatures), got a tattoo... :) I got a very very small but cute tattoo on the inside of my right ankle. It's the elvish word for 'life', which officially makes me a nerd.
Tomorrow we are off north, up to the Bay of Islands. Maybe spot some whales?
