So we were supposed to spend only 2 nights in Sydney... but there were too many things to do and too many people to meet that another night had to be done! Which was completely worth it - we managed an epic walking tour of the city, from the botanical gardens (spend a good few hours napping on the grass) to the opera house and across the harbour bridge.
Then it was off on a 12 hour night bus to Byron Bay. The move from SE Asian buses to Australian ones was quite amusing - we were used to crazy bus drivers and insane vietnamese woman, little leg room and no space for safety in Laos, which made the little 'health and safety' talk we had from the driver before we set off with Greyhound seem quite amusing. But at the end of the day, a night bus is a night bus and you are always glad to get to where you are going.
Bryon Bay is a great little surfers place. Its a nice change going from a big city to a very small little town, where the beach is literally just up the road. Today we are heading on a 2 hour walk to the lighthouse. Possibly ending with some surfing and beach time at the end of the day. What a tough life...
In other news, I have gone quite brown. Hopefully the tan will last through the comparatively cold month spent in NZ!
