We travelled north, pass Milan via the picturesque Italian Lakes and over the border to Switzerland. On the Gothard highway we went through the longest tunnel in the world 17km (11miles), and shortly afterwards arrived in Lucerne (Luzern). There is snow everywhere, on the mountains, the ground and roof tops.
We then cruised along the tranquil Lake Lucerne, enjoying the picturesque views and admiring the beauty of this amazing city.
A visit to the Lion of Lucerne, which was created to commemorate the heroism of the Swiss Guards who defended Louis XVI in Paris in 1972.
Spent the late afternoon walking along the 14th century covered Chapel Bridge, crossing the River Reuss, and exploring the city centre before dinner with the tour group.
Lucerne is where the Pincini family came from ( my mothers side of the family) and I am excited to be here visiting.
