Hello again,
Since our last entry we have had a great night discovering the barcelona nightlife. Too poor for the posh clubs by the water we decided just to wander around the local las ramblas area and get the vibe. We ended up in the traval bar (think i mentioned it yesterday) and had some drinks there. Ended up meeting an aussie outside that worked there and told us some cool stuff about where to go. This other aussie asked ben if she could take a photo of him becuase he was wearing his doggies jumper. Haha. She said her husband was obsessed and wouldnt believe that she saw him if she didnt take a photo. He walked around the rest of the night like quite the celebrity. Didnt really do too much else though. Just wandered which we really like to do.
Dorms are awesome....everyone else in our dorm is french so the language thing is a little bit of a problem but nobody is irritating anyone just yet. I wonder if they will stay there another night. Beds are really comfy even if they dont come with sheets...
Today though was a little bit disappointing. We decided that after our free hostel breakfast (ewww spanish milk is revolting) we would set out for one of the many barcelona beaches. We got out bathers on ready and put on our sunscreen.... then we went outside and it was grey. Couldnt believe it. It didnt change the entire day. We walked to the beach so that we could pass the monument de colombo on the way but it rained hard on us the entire day. Too cheap to buy a metro ticket we persevered and found some really nice beaches....even though it was too wet and grey to go in the water. Still the rain stopped long enough for us to have a sit by the beach and walk a bit further to port olimpia. We were a tempted to go and see el ultimatum de bourne but again decided to save our money. We walked back (in the rain again) past the arc de triomf (way uglier that the french one) but it was nice and photogenic all the same. Even though it was raining for forever it was still really warm so it was skirts/shorts and t-shirts all round again. It kinda sounds like we didnt do alot...but after window shopping along each street and oh we walked around the marina at the end of las ramblas it pretty much took up the whole day.
Now we are back at the hostel....totally b*****ed and ready for our siesta. Doing the quick email check (we watched the simpsons in spanish whilst waiting for a computer to be free. Hehehe it sounds so funny. Only the songs are in english.) But yeah god i love the siestas. Tonight we might check out the casino (to get the casino card) and head down university way.
