FW Travels
Today we visit Teton National Park, we were unable to get a RV Park closer as
this was a short notice vacation and Jackson Hole is a popular
destination, besides there is one RV Park in The area, the drive was
about an hour and half partially for road construction on Teton Pass.
Teton Pass is quite interesting it's an eighteen mile drive and the
elevation goes from 6,200” to 8,400” and down the other side to
6,200', the pass has about eight miles of 10% grade which is quite
steep, there are 2 runaway truck ramps which are accessed by crossing
the oncoming traffic lane, good luck with that. This is the route we
were going to take for the Cheyenne leg of the trip, while possible
with our Dodge Cummins Turbo diesel I just don't want to put that
much stress on the vehicles, so we will leave here via the route we
arrived.
The National Elk Reserve is the largest in the world, it is a habitat for
approximately 9,200 Elk in the winter. Early spring the Elk migrate
to Yellowstone National Park and Teton National Park,. In the fall
they find their way back to the reserve in groups of about 90 head.
The reserve which has a fence about 10' tall is to protect them form
the highway, they are not contained in the Reserve.
We reached the park and went to the Visitors center and made our way
inside, not noticing any “No Animals” inside sign we entered
taking Maya with us, I noticed two park Rangers look puzzled and that
was it, while in the gift shop one of the workers came over and threw
Connie and Maya out. I paid for the trinket and joined them outside,
from here we entered the park, free thanks to our Senior pass.
The Tetons are beautiful, but not as cool as I remember from a past trip,
on that trip we arrived by air which probably made them a bit more
spectacular as we could see them 300 miles out. We spotted on
Antelope and one Elk, got picture of the Elk but he was eating and
didn't lift his head, by this time we were getting hungry so found a
place and ate lunch then departed the park for the base camp.
Tomorrow we are staying at base camp, I'm going to the fly shop down the road
and check up on the fishing guide deal and if they are available and
affordable, this is a huge fly fishing area and the place is infested
with fishermen people.

Christi You need to get a little coat for Mya that say's she's a working dog. I'm sure mom could whip one of those up no problem :)
Chari Good idea, Christi :) Scenery looks beautiful. Wish I was there.
