Time to head for Vietnam :) on the bus in the morning we heard about the girls late night and they were covered in ash from the fire! The bus to the border was only 4 hours. At the border we had to get out and carry our own bags across. The sun was shining and it was very hot. The first check point was to get out of Cambodia. The guard was on lunch so we had to wait til he was finished. Each person took a minute or two as they had to check we had the correct visa for Vietnam. Two of the girls on tour were not allowed out of Cambodia as they didn't have the correct visa. Sadly they had to go back to Phnom Penh and meet us in Ho Chi Minh. After the Cambodian border we continued to walk to the first Vietnam checkpoint and show our passport, next we sat and waited while our passports were stamped and then one last final check to get into Vietnam. All up about an hour and a half. We then got on our mini bus and had two seats to each person.
After the border we stopped for lunch and to exchange money. For lunch I had deep fried vegetable things that were a local dish. The hotel for lunch even had a room for one of he girls to sleep at lunch. Some people got pho and someone got hot pot which looked good! After lunch we had one stop before the home stay where I got a very local ice coffee. It was so sweet so I had to put water in it to mix it!
Next stop was the homestay. It was about a 5 minute walk from the main road to the farm. It was a beautiful property and we each had two beds to a room. The beds had mosquito nets, a fan and a light. As subset was approaching we climbed up a ladder to get a good view and take some photos. Just beautiful!
Not long after dinner was ready. The first part was a pancake with some vegetables or pork. We then sat down and all the other food came out. Pumpkin soup, tomato tofu, grilled pork, green beans, rice, spring rolls! So much amazing food. All I did was eat as much as I could! Yum! After dinner we all sat down and drank some vodka and played cards. Slowly people went to bed by u waited until about 2am until it was cooler and then went! What a fantastic night and experience! Can't wait for breakfast :)
