Sitting here at almost 11pm tonight and it is still light outside and very noisy. Hopefully it gets quiet soon. Today was our last day in Juneau. After breakfast and a quick stop at a couple of shops it was time to get the taxi to the airport. We asked the driver if she would mind stopping where we saw all the Eagles yesterday and she said she would see what she could do.
She couldn't stop at the exact spot but where she could, there was a few adults aswell as juvenile eagles. One of the adults was munching on some fish so was lovely to see and able to get a couple of good photos.
Juneau airport is quite small but took forever to get through security. Boarded on time but then had to sit for almost an hour as TSA scanning system had gone down and they had to check all checked in bags by hand and our pilot didn't want to leave without all our bags...appreciate that.
Anchorage airport was rather large so at least there was plenty of taxis this time. Straight to our hotel and checked in before taking a walk. Headed past a monument celebrating President Eisenhower for declaring Alaska the 48th state. Wandered down to Ship Creek which is a creek behind the railways where Salmon run during the salmon and a chance to see fisherman at play. Plenty of fisherman at play, not so many fish. Tide was heading out and best time is apparently when the tide is coming in.
Not much else to do here in a short period of time. We grabbed some dinner and then sorted our bags for the next couple of days. Luckily we can leave some bags here at the hotel as we are limited with what we can take to Brooks Lodge tomorrow. Very excited for this next part of the chapter. No wifi again for a couple of days. Prepared to be wowed (I hope) when we return on Thursday
