For half term we visited Bologna. We mainly visited it because it had lots of things to do, was a student town and was easy to get to by train (and cheap!) We basically had three days and after full on lectures every day and lots and lots of culture we wanted something completely different! We did lots of shopping, got to know the city, visited very few cultural sites and went to lots of shops and parks. There aren't many of those in Venice! We also went to some modern bars as opposed to quiet backstreet restaurants and wine bars. It was refreshing to get away for a bit and the apartment we stayed in meant we could cook for ourselves for once. It felt like we had arrived in Las Vegas when we arrived because we weren't used to so much life and we had to learn how to deal with traffic again. When we crossed over the bridge to Venice again it felt so good to be back home again though!
