Frey's tonsai adventures...
The last few weeks have been a crazy ride. Murray joined me and we climbed a bit and drank a bit more. I am not quite sure where all the time went but i think it was consumed in sunset frisbee (tide permitting), slacklining, fire twirling, connect four and yes... buckets. Emma also came over from bris and we hung out a heap with the new castle and sydney crew too (thanks for adopting us).
We did some pretty awesome climbs, I was only just getting used to the rock as we left - so slimy! My favourite day climbing was our deep water soloing day. I can't say that i got very high (i think you need more muscles than i had) but it was the coolest type of bouldering i have ever done!
On one of our rest days murray, simon, marc, bubs and I hired cool motorbikes (i got a girly scooter) and after many hours we managed to find the tiger cave - and yep there were no tigers there... However, we did find 1,237 stairs which we walked up! The views at the top of the hill were amazing (our breath was taken away - but that may just have been the stairs...) and they were made even better by the crazy storm that we got to watch. We hunted out some dinner and the year of october was proclaimed! Basically this meant that a few too many beers were consumed and we failed to notice the passing of time and subsequently had to pay too many baht to get back to tonsai... it was all good though a lot of fun was had in the bartering. On my last night down south, marc, bubs and I went to Muay Thai (kick boxing) at the Ao Nang stadium. It was pretty awesome, man their bodies were so ripped!!! Again a few to many changs were consumed - is any one detecting a pattern here?... :).
Mascha called into tonsai on her way back home and I cruised with her to Ko Phi Phi for a few days. I ended up doing my open water dive course. It was fantastic! I saw so many cool things including leopard sharks, sea turtles (one was munching this soft coral), banded sea snakes, lots and lots of nemo's and some pretty spectacular coral. The other highlight of phi phi was definitely the cheap pizza (it equalled schonnell pizza in quality!) - lets just say i managaed to have one each day i was there... so good!
Murray and I also found out about the death of our friend Simon Vos. For those of you who knew him - my deepest sympathies. He was a shining light of the UQ climbing and paddelling community and he will be sorely missed. We won't forget you simey!
Well my second wind is running out (i just got off the overnight bus from Krabbi), so I am going to catch some zzz's then meet up with the girls before we head to india. So until next time... love and light, frey
