Frey Kat Danielle's SEA Travels
This is my 3rd attempt at strating this journal. I apologize to all of you that have been waiting in anticipation of our first few days......I left 24th July and well surprisingly they let me into the country!!!! Just goes to show what bribes can do :) The flight was great, I had a window seat plus the other two seats in the row to myself (thanks universe). I shared with 3 people behind me of course!...good food, a few good flicks and room to move, who needs first class...
My farewell in Sydney consisted of my sister Sonya, nephew Adam and good friend Talitha (aka curry). There were a few tears but what got me the most was when I was just about to head through those dreaded glass customs doors; I turned to say my final goodbye and the most amazing male I know, ADAM of course, called out 'love you'....I told him I loved him too and then turned to go say hellp to the customs officers with teary eyes.
When I got to Bangkok, my driver Mr. Alex was a no-show so I had to catch a taxi instead, which ended up being 150 baht cheaper than the hotel offerred, but then found out 500 baht dearer than a meter taxi....Tourists I tell you- SHOCKING. Anyway my taxi driver got lost and ended up taking me for a look see of Bangkok at night. Aftrer a shower, good sleep and breaky Danielle turned up and our adventure continues.
We retraced our steps a number of times through out the day because we had no ideawhere we were going, we were chased by a tuk tuk driver for a few blocks, cause he wouldnt take NO for an answer, we got into a taxi with all our gear in the boot and then before we went anywhere we got back out of the taxi because the drivers anted to take us to another shop to but some stuff. We also ran into a lady who we had been avoiding earlier because we thought ahe wanted to sell us something or take us somewhere, but it turned out she was an information officxer with the train stationa dn just wanted to help us....that is whats sop crazy over here you don't know who wants what!!??
So after a bit of shopping, lunch, danielles mobile phone being stolen and walking we are now sitting on a train heading to Lopburi. We decided to travel 3rd class (we were the only westerners), which despite the weird smells, pollution and thingds flying in your eyes from the windows being open, is much better than 1st class and the air con I think. Bit hard to sleep thou and when the train gets going fast your hair goes everywhere. Lucky I cut mine off-> Ohh yeah dod I mention I cut my hair short -> photo to prove it coming soon.
The trip so far has taken us past the poor areas and slums where peoplelive right in the track in shacks made out of sheets of tin and wood. It seems so sad to me as I think of 'the love shack' at Preso Bay in Tassie, bit I also wonder and realise to the thai people its their life and just the way it is. Most of them are happy or content with the simplicity of their lives and will never know any different, how lucky we truly are.....
There is an old Thai man sitting opposite us with his belt and button of his pants undone cause he has an upset tummy -> not looking fwd to that experience I tell you. It seems pretty ladi back on the train, the driver has gotten off twice already, once to get a drink and the other to move his bike in a better spot. Danielle and I are listening to Coldplay on her walkman (except when she keeps moving and pulls it out of my ear). We are hoping we don't miss our stop and that a hotel will be open for us to find a comfy bed at 11 oclock at night. Hopefully it will be soon as Danielle's bum has gone numb and she has resorted to sitting on her blow up pillow. Its pretty dark outside so not alot to report there and inside most peole are asleep. There is one little girl keeping her mum and nan awake anmd getting up to mischief. She took a liking to me and tapped me on the shoulder and we had a little game of trying to communicate. I got her very excited when i showed her howto do up the big clips on my bag, she was very impressed with herself.....
Anyway this is a long entry due to the other two times not working.
COMING UP: Daniellewill write an entry of her week at kick boxing camp 17-24th July and Freya will be joining us next week so look out for her wacky additions to our adventures. Dont forget to post us a message and come back to see what we get up to in Lopburi and if we found a hotel open tonight or if we had to sleep under the stars....
