One day, two different blogs. Why? Well obviously a trip to the Great Wall deserves a blog entry but what else could be so fantastic it warrants writing two blog entries on the same day?
The Beijing Olympic buildings of course!
The bird's nest, the water cube, the torch, the Olympic tower.
All the background buildings of the best ever yet Olympic Opening Ceremony (in my humble opinion).
To me the various buildings, as great as they are, are more than just outstanding architectural features. They're even more than the buildings of the 2008 Olympics.
To me they are akin to celebrities.
I'm honestly not sure who/what I'd rather get a photo with: Johnny Depp or the Beijing Olympic Buildings.
The Opening Ceremony Beijing put on was a work of ceremonial art. Nothing else I have ever seen has quite compared.
I meant to try and make this blog entry about how strange it is the way we feel about some buildings sometimes but just thinking about that opening ceremony has got me distracted again.
And a big thanks to Mel and David who came with me and made the whole experience just that much more exciting. When you share a happy experience with other people it does not diminish it, it doubles the enjoyment - if you're with the right sort of people of course!
And as a quick side note we later made our way to Qianmen in front of Tianamen Square and had one of the funniest and yummiest dinners together. When I get access to Facebook I will have to upload the photos and have a competition to choose the funniest Chinglish.
P.S. again, the photo is clearly not the Olympic buildings because I'm still working out the best way to use this app. But basically picture my smile twice as wide and you've got me at the Olympic Green in Beijing
