After yesterday's meagre offerings by way of a blog - what can we offer you today?
We've only gone and made it to Hollywood that's all - Woo-Hoo!
Ok, there are two schools of thought here within the touring party.
Kath is totally unimpressed with the low-rent motel we are using and I've chosen as our base for the next couple of nights. She has already filled in the Guest Relations card highlighting the flaws. Frayed towel, shortage of pillows etc.
Whereas me? We're just one block away from Sunset + Vine. How cool is that???
"Location, location, location," says I. "A decent bath towel wouldn't go amiss," rues my long-suffering travelling partner in life, pragmatically.
Ah well, perhaps working in travel and blagging a number of five star hotels this year has raised the bar. She now looks for the towelling bathrobe as a default whenever we arrive at a hotel. But I'm sure our next port of call, the Hilton in Tahiti will make up for it.
Back to today, we left our very nice hotel, the Mission in Carmel at breakfast time having failed to rendezvous with Mr Eastwood of movie fame. Mind you, we didn't let him know we were coming so we only have ourselves to blame.
Our disappointment proved to be temporary as we ventured down the Highway One coast road to the Big Sur. Ray-Bans on, Don Henley's Boy Of Summer blasting out on the car stereo soon followed by the Beach Boys and the Eagles.
One midlife crisis averted in just a couple of hours.
I thought the 320 mile journey today would be more gruelling than it proved. We stopped off at Pismo Beach for lunch and again at Santa Barbara for another pit stop.
Just when I thought that life couldn't get any better, surfing the radio (the only surfing I'll be doing despite the location!!) I discovered E Street Radio which plays back-to-back Bruce Springsteen songs 24 hours a day!
After checking in tonight we dined at another Hard Rock Cafe at Universal Studios. So that's 17 down another 138 to go!
Kath's took some great shots to day as I was too busy negotiating hairpin bends whilst singing 'Good Vibrations' to notice. You can see them in the Photo Album section.
Tomorrow, we'll be keeping up the trashy theme with a no-holds-barred Hollywood Tour.
Kath, God-Bless-Her, is being very patient although I'm sure payback time is due later in the tour.
So, as we say here in Tinsel Town: 'That's a Wrap!'
