Hello everyone,
The last 7 days have been exciting to say the least.
We arrived in Rome on Saturday evening and have been on the move ever since. The internet access is not readily available and until today was VERY expensive. We chose to wait until now to update. Sorry-no pics. This is a computer in a common area with no ability to upload. But don't dispair, with the trip at its halfway point Rome was exciting, and like Paris, it was crowded, busy, and yet so beautiful. Vatican City and Saint Peter's Basilica were every bit as awesome as we expected. The artists of the time were able to create these treasures and tell the stories of battles and everday life with such detail. The Colosseum was just as we have all seen in pictures. But, seeing it in person and walking around you could almost envision the gladiators fighting for their lives in front of the thousands watching. We visited Pompeii. The society of the city was much like ours of today. An overnight ferry took us to Sicily. Here we have been to more ancient ruins and a huge private villa from Roman Times. The Villa was complete with a spa and indoor plumbing. Their water system was ingenious. We are now on the coast in Giardini Naxos and we have walked the beach and the streets of the town. Italy is a wonderful place that I would love to return to and enjoy at a slower pace.Tomorrow we are off to Sorrento and the Isle of Capri. We are having a wonderful time, in a wonderful place, with wonderful friends. The experience is filled with exciting and awesome experiences and we wish you were here to share it with us.Take care all. We will see you soon.LOVE, Freida and Jen
