hello everyone...I have a feeling this maybe my last blog...as time is sadly coming to an end, and im no longer travelling around. We are now at our final stop in our trip...KO Phangan!
After an exhauting trip back to bangkok we ended up staying in the backpacker part, which was great to see another side to the city! It was full of market stalls, cheap accommodation and food stalls. A real atmosphere at night with the bars and clubs on the streets too. It was ncie for a stop over then on the night train down to Surat thani...the south of thailand gateway. The night train was ok in the end, very nioisey just from the movements of the train, i thought id never sleep, but somehow we all did. paul slept the entire way, as usual, whilest carry and i grabbed a few hrs. it was an experience for sure.
We first went to Krabi after a stinky bus journey. it was a night bus coming from bangkok, and we got on for the last 3 hrs and it stunk of toilets...not good. then we got dumped in the middle of krabi, no idea where we were, before the bus driver statrted to get aggressive shouting at us saying we dont listen to him, even though he had not even spoken to him! u dont dare answer back when they get like that. its scary!
Anyway, he dumped us in the middle of no where, leaving us to heave our backpacks in the mid day sun for ages to work out whjere we were. Eventually we were sorted and headed straight to the beach. Krabi - Ao Nang was nice, and a day trip over to Railey on a long tail boat, fighting for shade as its so hot and there are no trees. But Krabi is nothing compared to phi phi, which is where we went next!
Paul stayed back in krabi, waiting to meet a friend from home, while the matthews sisters rocked onm to phi phi! It was so exciting as we arrived, absolubtly gorgeous! Wre had heard such mixed reactins about the island, saying it had been spoilt recently, but we went on anyway! how bad could it be?
To us, Phi phi was a highligh, without a doubt. between us, we were there for a week, and that was not the intention. the white fluffy sands and crystal clear waters were perfect. We stayed on a great beach, although in very very basic accommodation for a good price as its a high priced island! Todder and paul joined carry and i the next day. There are no roads on the island, everywhere is reached by long tail boats. admittedly there is alot of boat traffic, but still not enough to ruin it...not for us anyway. We visited the main village once or twice, not to keen on that, it was a smelly rat run of crowded shops. much better back on the beach!
A diving trip was fun, carry got to swan off with other divers as us riff raff jumped in with snorkels. It was a shame as although the waters and fishes were great, we kept getting stung by jelly fish. as we were kicking through the waters, suddenly we were up close to them through our masks and tried to revers. the stings were contstant. all the snorkel group had to get out. after a sting on the cheek, lip, then cheek again, i was out of there!! Carry then went on to ko lanta, to start her journey to the boarder to renew her visa and paul and I stayed on phi phi. from 4 down to us 2. very quiet. We saw where the beach was filmed, but in terms of a day spent on that beach, you could not even see the water for all of the boats parked up :(
When it was time to leave, we headed over to ko phangan for a 14hr jounrey. it was exhausting, but we made it. we are sort of fed up of the travelling journeys now, so guess its perfect timing for coming home. we are in ko phangan for 2 weeks, moving around the island in time to settle for the one and only full moon party!! Carry will be joinging us again in a few days where we will take an elephant trek and rent motorbikes to explore the island some more.
From there, its the nght train back, before the flight at 00.45 in the morning of the 15th.
Paul and I cant wait to get home now, it has been the perfect length of time away. This is one adventure we will never forget.
The end. x
