Some things have been happening lately, so first things first.
The visa run.
The first part of the trip was the night boat from Koh Tao to Surathani. And this wasnt some ordinary boat with chair oh no is was with beds. But theres a catch thers only one floor there are only duble beds and no separating walls, and ofcourse all the bed space must be used. This in turn meant that i was sleeping beside a total stranger, a girl from Gremany. We didnt exchange one word just one look that kinda said you stay on your side an ill stay on my side end of story.
After the boat there was a litle tuk tuk like car (this had 4 wheels, tuk tuks only have 3) other than that they were the same. This in turn drove us to a litle travel agency that had barely opend (it was 4am!!) and we waited there for about 1 hour before a minivan picked us up. I thought this was just another ride to a big bus that would take us over the border, but theres no such luck so we got stuck in that minivan all 10 passangers for about 10 hours down across the border to Malaysia and to the island Penang the bridge from the mainland to the island is one of the longest in the world in comparison it takes about 20 minutes with boat to cover the same distance.
After we got to Penang and George Town (the state capital, Penang beeing the state)we got dropped off at a motel that was called Banana resort, because i was so tierd i decided id get a room there and not go lookin for anything else. This was also the place where i got my turist visa for thailand sorted.
Now about George Town, this is truly a meltingpot of cultures, you can walk from China to India to some Arab land in a matter of minutes. I didnt get the chance to explore this much since i had so litle time there. But i did get to see one of the biggest shopping malls ive ever seen. it was 5 stories tall and took about 15 minutes to walk from one end to the other and thats fast walking no stopping.
The day after i started on my way back to the paradise island. It was the same with a minibus all the way to Surathani about 10 hours. Then there was a big bus to Chumpon, where we got picked up by motorbikes and taken to the pier to wait 3 hours for the boat. We where there about 4pm and the boat left at 7am. And finally with no other curiosities i got to Koh Tao about 930am.
This was my visa run in short terms and i hope i dont have to do it again. The long booring hours in the bus is not tempting to repeat.
Back here on my litle dream island life is as usual with all the good stuff and almost no rain :P. I got abit of a cold that keeps me out of the water but its a nice excuse to get all the theory out of the way so its all good fun. We have had some comings and goings of nice people some divers leaving and coming and we had an instructor leaving for Rarotonga to teach there. Other than that theres nothnig unusual or out of the ordinary other than a coconut falling beside you but you get used to that to after a few of them :P
Btw some pictures from the visa run are coming soon.
Thats all for now
over and out
