Wednesday- La Paz - Oruro bus 12.30 - 5pm / Oruro - Uyuni Train 7.00pm - 2.30 am .Thursday arrive.
Well my friends, its Sunday night in Uyuni, we have just got back from a 3 day 2 night trip around the salt plains and vast areas of Bolivia. It was very tiring so dont be lead to think travelling is easy. !!
Salt plains where amazing 2400 kilometers squared of pure salt, guess what I still had to ask for salt pot when meals times arrived. Houses built out of salt etc I was in my element even sat on a salt animal. (not sure what it was )The area was vast as you can imagine all you could see was miles of salt, we drove for hours over it. The whole 3 days we covered many miles seeing many amazing things. Giesers, lagoons that where red also green plus beautiful mountains colours where amazing. Had a dip in a hot spring.
Got to say the evenings were not so good it was very cold and the hostels very gruesome. Both nights we slept in our clothes and very little running water espeacially on the last night. That was a picture on its own I slept with my feet in my coat sleeves, hat on and all my clothes.
Hard to explain the place but I would say it was like a cell in a prison, had stone walls but we where all in together. The last morning we where up at 5.am we where driven to the giesers which were amazing to see all the steam pouring out of the ground, then on to the hot spring, we needed this we where filthy. It was miles and miles of dusty driving which possibly two days would have been enough.
Arriving back at 6.00pm on the 3rd night (last night) we where tired and completely exuasted but better for the experience. Had the best nights sleep in 4 nights. Today we are just ambling around the town, sun is shining its pretty quiet. But managed to find this internet open.
Tonight we have a train to catch at 2.50 am (Monday) which will get us to Tupiza for 8.30 am (hopefully) then we have to get a bus to Villamontes which will take us to the border of Paraguay. Possible stay there for a night before we head to Ascunsion, capital of Paraguay. I believe thats a 20hour bus trip so not looking forward to that one, but should be amazing when we get there as that is the Igauzi falls. Which we hope to see on the Brazilian side as well as Argentina.
What an amazing trip, be glad when the long bus trip is out the way though.
Lyndsey has worked our trip out and has done a brilliant job of it so far, Im sure the rest will be just as good.
So dont be surprised if I dont get chance to do blog for another week, as soon as we can get to computor will let you no how we are doing. Having trouble getting pictures off cameras at moment to, think it must be the internets here.
Sorry if I dont email you seperately but will keep in contact as much as possible, plus I no my spelling is not good. Left my brain somewhere !! in the salt I expect.
Adios amigos see you soon. xxxx I do think about you all. This should keep you busy Monday morning. xxxxx
