We left Manning Gorge after fuelling up and filling up with water too. Another hours drive bought us to Silent Grove campground where we set up and had lunch. After that we drove another 10kms to Bell Gorge. It was a relatively short and easy walk into the gorge, this time coming in to top of the Falls. There were lots of shallow pools to swim in and we could swim up to the top of the Falls and sit there safely like being in a horizon pool. The bigger boys walked up and around the hill a bit further to get down to the bottom, then they climbed up and jumped off into the deep pools at the bottom of the fall. Because it was so fun we decided to stay another night and do it all again the next day and be able to spend more time doing it! The next morning we had a lazy get up and packed our lunch to go back into the gorge for the rest of the day. Again, the big boys enjoyed jumping from heights and exploring the other pools and falls downstream. Just as the boys got back from their roaming there was a sudden mad scramble and panic as a snake came swimming across the pool towards everyone! There were a few women with toddlers and kids who had to climb up the wall to a high ledge in a hurry! The snake looked like a brown but someone else thought it may have been a harmless olive python. However, no one was keen to take any chances and we gave it heaps of room. Meanwhile, a beautiful water monitor that had been sunning himself on a nearby rock decided to go for a swim across the pool, it was an amazing sight to see one swimming! We had a relaxing arvo back at camp, the boys were happy to have some other kids to play with up on the hill. They then came over after tea for a game of Uno and a chat around the fire. Lots of fun!

Nana Have you got photos of the water monitor? I don't think I have ever seen one.
