Today is our last day in Shanghai. I can't believe it's the fourth day already. I've had an amazing time in Shanghai and sad to leave. But look forward to coming back. I'm spending the morning relaxing and nursing a little bit of a hangover. Last night I met up with my good friend Alex again and went to the Shanghai Brewery which had killer nachos and burgers and a great microbrewery. After dinner he took me to a live Blues bar where we enjoyed some G&Ts to some soulful music.
We are leaving Shanghai for Guilin at 16:18 this afternoon from Shanghai south station on a 20 hour train journey. I'm looking forward to go back to Guilin. I went there in April but I'm keen to see it in the summer. There are two things I'm really excited about. One is swimming in the river with the jagged mountain peaks as a backdrop. The view will be stunning. Last time
I was there it was much to cold to even consider bathing in the river.
The second is visiting the rice fields to the north of Guilin, which for me will epitomise the stereotypical image of China that we all have when we first think if this history-enriched country.
I will be sure to update my blog when I get the chance. See you all in Guilin!
