Our first full day in Yangshuo, after arriving late last night, we plunged straight into the must-do list. After a fantastic Chinese breakfast comprised of Guilin noodle soup and dumplings we hired some bikes and hit the road. We rode to the YuLong river which lurks on the other side of Yangshuo, away from the Li river, and continued to ride up the river bank. Today was a scorcher though, so it wasn't long before we stopped off at a place on the riverside to go for a swim. The cover photo of this blog entry is where we went swimming. The river was so clean and so refreshing. As we swam, many Chinese tourists on rafts would greet us and take photos of us. They found it hilarious to see white people in their swimming attire having a cheeky dip in the river. Either way they enjoyed watching us and we enjoyed the swim. After taking some magnificent photos of the area we decided to head back to Yangshuo. But we get caught in the mother of all thunderstorms! However, unlike rain in, say, England, this rain was so warm it was actually really nice to be in. It has been so humid recently that we welcomed it with open arms so cycled through the rain on our 8km journey back with huge smiles in our faces.
Plan for tonight is to go out for a few drinks on the rooftop bar of our hostel which boasts the best views in town. Should be fun!
